FOUNDER & CEO
Marc Muinzer is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Muinzer, a vertically integrated private real estate investment platform dedicated to institutional student housing. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Purdue University and an MBA from Loyola University Chicago.
Since its founding in 2002, Muinzer has grown into one of the most active owners and operators of institutional student housing in the United States. The firm employs more than 100 professionals and maintains offices in Los Angeles, Knoxville, Auburn, West Lafayette, and Chicago.
Mr. Muinzer brings over two decades of experience investing in and operating student housing assets. Under his leadership, Muinzer has built a disciplined, cycle-tested platform with a demonstrated ability to generate superior risk-adjusted returns for institutional capital partners.
In 2021, Mr. Muinzer was honored with the Purdue University College of Science Distinguished Graduate Award in recognition of his entrepreneurial achievements.
MICHAEL SNYDER
PRESIDENT & COO
Michael joined Muinzer in 2016 as Director of Acquisitions and was promoted to Chief Operating Officer in April 2019. Michael is responsible for sourcing acquisitions, underwriting, conducting due diligence, securing debt, and the general oversight of the Muinzer portfolio. Prior to Muinzer, Michael was Investment Manager for Starwood Waypoint Residential Trust, a leading single-family rental REIT. He was responsible for Chicago acquisitions and grew the portfolio to 1,200 assets.
KELLY JANISCH
Director of Asset Management
Kelly joined Muinzer in 2025 and serves as Director of Asset Management. In this role, she is responsible for overseeing the performance, strategy, and long-term value creation for the company’s student housing portfolio.
Prior to joining Muinzer, she served as Vice President of Asset Management at Waterton Residential based in Chicago. During her over 17 year long career in commercial real estate asset management, she has also held positions at Barings and the Inland Group of Companies, where she managed diverse national portfolios across numerous commercial asset classes.
Kelly holds a bachelor’s degree in real estate finance from Indiana University and a master’s degree in real estate from DePaul University.
STACY DEBRUYNE
MANAGING DIRECTOR
Stacy DeBruyne is a Purdue University alumna who began her career in student housing in 2010. She was recognized early on for her leadership and excellence, earning the title of Property Manager of the Year in 2014. Stacy joined Muinzer in 2020 and was promoted to Managing Director in 2022, reflecting her strong operational and strategic capabilities.
With a background that includes both third-party management and owner-operated assets, Stacy brings a comprehensive understanding of property operations, financial management, and portfolio transitions. Her broad experience and proven leadership make her an integral part of Muinzer’s continued growth and success.
SHELBY SANDERS
DIRECTOR OF MARKETING
Shelby Sanders began her career in student housing in 2011 following her graduation from Purdue University. She joined Muinzer in 2021, bringing with her over a decade of industry experience. Prior to her current role, Shelby held leadership positions including Area Sales Manager, Regional Marketing Director, and Regional Marketing and Training Director. In 2018, she was recognized as Regional Marketing Director of the Year.
Throughout her career, Shelby has specialized in team leadership, leasing strategy, training, and marketing. As a seasoned “road warrior,” she has worked in over 30 markets nationwide, developing a deep understanding of student housing operations across diverse regions. Her extensive background and hands-on experience make her a valuable asset to the Muinzer team.
Caitlyn Barrick
Director of Property Management
Caitlyn began her career in student housing in 2014 and joined Muinzer in 2020. Demonstrating strong leadership and operational insight, she was promoted to Regional Director in 2023 and advanced to Director of Property Management in 2024.
Caitlyn specializes in leading teams through operational transitions and delivering comprehensive training across student housing communities. Her experience spans a wide range of markets nationwide, making her a key contributor to Muinzer’s commitment to excellence in property management.
Steve Teegarden

Steve joined Muinzer in 2024. He is responsible for the portfolio’s accounting and investor reporting, and helps drive treasury operations and financial systems. Prior to Muinzer, Steve’s spent 15 years leading fund accounting and financial reporting teams at Brookfield Properties, Ivanhoe Cambridge and Core Spaces. He is a licensed CPA.
Nathan brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to Muinzer from his extensive experience in construction and building management. His career journey began in 2005 with home construction, and by 2007, he transitioned into excavating work. Serving as a foreman, he effectively oversaw teams comprising 15-20 members. In 2013, Nathan ventured into entrepreneurship, establishing his trucking company, which later evolved into a comprehensive contracting enterprise encompassing paving, concrete, septic installation, and excavating services.
